JPK 960

IRC Racing

The JPK 960 is a unique model. Comfort at sea, reliability, exceptional performance, ease of handling. What sailboat manufacturer does not try to combine all these qualities in one boat!

The JPK 960 has won everything, single-handed and crewed, offshore or inshore. By winning the Fastnet in crazy conditions, it has proved that it is possible to go to sea in complete serenity whatever the weather conditions and to envisage, in racing and cruising, all the journeys that one can dream of.

A unique project

As a preamble to his design, Jacques Valer imposed strict adherence to the weight specifications to obtain a light boat with a very high ballast ratio.
The curved V-shaped front sections facilitate passage through the sea and upwind sailing.
The flared rear sections and long, tight arch allow for planing and stabilize the boat at high speeds.
The small drag gives the boat high speed with a very manageable sail area and the high keel ratio provides stability and power in difficult conditions.
Racing or cruising, fully crewed or single-handed, the deck plan can be adapted to all programmes.
Large cockpit with a dedicated aft area for the helmsman and trimmer.
A forward area with protective benches and coamings for comfort and family.
Central racket helm with stick, ergonomic footbraces, all adjustments back to the helmsman's hand with centred and raised sheet winches for comfort and efficiency.
Central piano and bowsprit control from the cockpit, wide side decks and effective anti-skid, safety and ergonomics dictated all our choices.
Implemented according to the infusion process which allows a perfect compacting of the fabrics and the sandwich, our structures are both rigid and ultra resistant.
Hull and deck in 16 mm balsa sandwich with 850 gr quadriaxial fabric and ortho infusion polyester resin.
The varanguage is infused at the same time as the planking to obtain the best homogeneity; the plywood/merisier bulkheads and all the structural counter-moulds are glued and laminated to the hull before demoulding

1400 kg divided into 800 kg of lead in the bulb and 600 kg of cast iron in the sail.
Attached with a base plate and 12 stainless steel dowels.

By combining the warmth of wood with the moulded elements, the interior of the JPK 960 is both warm and bright.
The large zenithal windows give a panoramic view all the way to the bow and allow safe viewing from inside.
The technical room at the stern allows the storage of sails and all the equipment for cruising.
The stern cabin with its porthole on the transom is simple, spacious and welcoming.
The saloon is a single main composite element that is not susceptible to deterioration because all the woodwork is located at the top of the structures.
The front "Breton bed" accentuates the effect of volume and offers a play area much appreciated by children as well as a perfect bed at anchor.
