Jonas Halberg and his teammate won the prestigious BALTIC 500 on their JPK 1030 "Hinden", ahead of the JPK 1180 "Frida" driven by Tim Behrendt and Andreas Bucheim.
On a fabulous 500-mile course between Kiel, Copenhagen and Gothenburg, "Hinden" beat all his opponents in tough, challenging conditions. Already a winner in 2020 on his JPK 1010, Jonas, a former windsurfing champion, is a tough nut to crack and together with his equally tough teammate they didn't give the other boats a chance! The only one to resist will be "Frida", Tim Behrendt's JPK 1180.
This "boosted" 1180 is an optimisation of this model for short-handed sailing.
Featuring 2 x 500 litre ballast tanks and a lighter bulb keel, the boat is both more powerful and lighter, and therefore sails in certain conditions with less crew weight!
The Baltic 500 was Frida's first race and Tim admits that he took it easy on his boat just three months after picking it up in Lorient. By winning the race in real time and improving on the reference time, "Frida", in this "boosted" version, proved to have very high potential.
A big congratulations to our friends from across the Rhine.
